It's the summer break, a perfect time to soak up the sun and enjoy some quality moments with family. Though entertaining a house full of bored kids for six weeks can be challenging, a few G&Ts or a cocktail in the garden can make it a bit more enjoyable. đč
What a busy term we've had at Love Pop Choir, filled with exciting changes and fabulous events! This Spring and Summer, we performed at 17 events, raising thousands of pounds for charity. And weâre just getting startedâwe already have a packed schedule for the Autumn and Winter terms.
Personally, my summer will be quite busy as I've recently moved house and have plenty to do to make it our home. Iâll also be recording new songs for us all to enjoy in the coming weeks.
Whatever your summer plans, whether you're staying at home soaking up the sun or going away on a fabulous holiday, I hope you have a wonderful time and if you can squeeze in some singing, weâd love to see you at our Summer Workshops.
Summer Workshops: Calling all ABBA fans
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABBAâs Eurovision victory with their iconic hit "Waterloo," we are excited to announce our ABBA Medley Workshops running this summer. These 3-hour sessions will teach you to sing a beautiful medley of ABBA hits alongside wonderful ladies from across our groups. Shane and Joanne will lead the sessions, and their boundless energy will leave you on a musical high, feeling full of beans. If you havenât booked your spot yet, thereâs still time! Meet our fabulous new Choir Directors
We are delighted to welcome two brand-new Choir Directors to Love Pop Choir! Rosie and Katie are incredibly talented and wonderfully friendly, so youâll have an amazing time singing with them.
Rosie will be leading our Roundhay group and Katie will take the helm for our Ilkley and Otley groups. Theyâve already begun their journey with us and are thrilled by the positive vibes and energy from our wonderful ladies. We hope youâll all get a chance to meet them soon, as they will be part of our cover team and will join you in singing at our sharing events. Letâs give Rosie and Katie a warm welcome to the Love Pop Choir family!
Awards
We've done it again! For the second year running, Love Pop Choir has won the Yorkshire Prestige Award for Community Choir of the Year. We're also thrilled to announce that we received the Best of the Best Award 2023/24 in the same category. That's three prestigious awards in our first two yearsâwhat an incredible achievement! The feedback from the judging panel made me incredibly proud. They emphasized that our sense of community is the cornerstone of our success. I canât thank you all enough for making our choir the wonderful group it is. â€
New Group - Love Pop Choir Boroughbridge
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new group in Boroughbridge this September! This will be our 8th group, and I have the pleasure of being their Choir Director. To celebrate, weâre hosting a Prosecco Launch for our new ladies, and I can't wait to meet everyone and start singing together. Love Pop Choir Boroughbridge will look forward to singing with you all at our next sharing event.
Going forward, I will be leading both the Harrogate and Boroughbridge groups, while Joanne will take over as Choir Director for Cookridge as well as leading our Farsley group. Joanne is delighted about this opportunity as she has wanted a second group for a long time and already has a wonderful rapport with our Cookridge group.
I will really miss teaching my fabulous Cookridge ladies soooo much, they are the loveliest group and are my firm friends for life, it's going to be a wrench for me to leave. â€
It's not goodbye though as I will still see them all at sharing events and at cover sessions.
Autumn/Winter Term
Choir sessions re-start the week commencing Monday 2nd September and we canât wait to see your smiling faces again! With new songs and exciting events planned, thereâs plenty to look forward to and keep us all busy.
This year, we'll be holding a Christmas sharing event again where you can meet our new Boroughbridge members and our fabulous new Choir Directors, along with Shane, Joanne, and myself. Iâm already excited for thatâit will be here before we know it!

Our amazing choir is only as good as the people who are a part of itâour fantastic Choir Directors and, of course, all of you wonderful ladies who join us each week to sing your hearts out. â€
My absolute favourite part of running the choir is reading and hearing all the supportive and heartfelt messages we receive from you. Twice a year, I try to share some of them so you can enjoy them too.

Hello Lauren, Just to say â we sang ( and sing ) like we do because you are a marvellous conductor. I have sung with several choirs over many years and you are up there with the very best. For certain, you give your singers the most confidence that I have ever experiencedâ if everyone keeps their eyes on you , they canât go wrong !! How you keep it all going and under control, helping all sections of the choir together is really amazing. And all with a great encouraging smile. Well done you. Saturday was just super â roll on the next one .
You ladies will never know how much I enjoy the choir and how it helps me cope with my everyday worries. Coming to choir helps me cope and has a great positive impact on my mental wellbeing.
II believe I found my âtribeâ with the Saltaire group and Shane. Iâve made friends within the group, and I hope to never lose touch with them, no matter how far apart we are. âla la la laaaaâŠweâll always be togetherâ
Joining the choir has been my saviour these last 18 months as I have had a lot of stressful stuff going on - when Iâm singing I donât have time for any of my worries and problems
Love Pop Choir is a much needed stress buster every week! Itâs fun, friendly and totally fab. Wouldnât be without it.

I really want to thank YOU Lauren, for the opportunity - for me to sing with the greater LPC family. The Leeds performance in 2022 was amazing; the summer all-choir get together was so much fun and will always be on my video feed! But the climax - our choir singing in Ripon Cathedral is something Iâm so proud to tell people. It was a dream come true. The recordings of the beautiful songs we performed, your direction, and the production value and the acoustics - it makes me emotional every time I listen. Thank you for the opportunity. Georgia thanks for making the choir a welcoming, energetic, fun place to be on a Monday evening. I'm in awe of your ability to switch between the three harmonies and bring the choir together. I haven't sung since I was at school and I've really enjoyed taking it up again, how it clears my head and makes me happy
